CHILE-BOLIVIA: Defence ministers and army chiefs meet

Although official diplomatic relations between the two countries remain suspended, as they have done since 1978, Bolivia and Chile maintain cordial military relations, which have not been affected by Bolivia's recent decision to build Venezuelan-financed military bases along its border. On 14 November, the Bolivian defence minister, Walker San Miguel, travelled to Santiago to meet Vivianne Blanhot, his Chilean counterpart to discuss a common agenda for the coming months.
